Taking the second spot in our release circle, Kalyma is back again - Appropriately enough his new EP goes by the name of Again, which could not only refer to the lyrics of the title-track itself, but also to the collaboration between him and his room-mate, vocalist Peter Stanowsky, who already gave his voice to Kalymas last Sacrosanct EP. Again, the A-side, basically contains of an dominant hypnotic arpeggiator underlined by a straight forward drum groove. Kalyma shows his production skills by playfully creating tension in tweaking those minimal elements into a clever arrangement. Although the vocals may be the last special ingredient to Again, there will also be a dub version for the instrumental lovers. Howl rounds up the overall vibe with a more percussive approach. While the driving bassline dominates the lower frequency spectrum, shakers, congas and claves create an organic groove. A very unique synth sound, similar to an ethnic flute, yet clearly synthesis based, takes the lead on Howl throughout the whole tune.
