As one third of SOLIDE alongside DYA and MYNY, Kalyma has always had an ear for rhythm that feels somehow kaleidoscopic. In what appears to be a year-on-year schedule for him following 2019’s ‘Tanger Night Drive’ and ‘The Clipper’ in 2020, he returns with ‘Tokyo’.
Coming in once again with rolling pace, multi-layered percussion bubbles under delicately flitting 80’s harps and undulating acid. ‘Tokyo’ feels readily optimistic and romantic, as much as being wholly introspective. It’s yet another crooning sundowner from one of SOLIDE’s key figures.
