D.Y.A. & Kalyma – Operator
1 Original
2 Operator (Panthera Krause Remix)
3 Operator (N Kramer Remix)
Here we are with Solide’s eighth release, a – excuse the low pun – solidification indeed of the labels reputation as suppliers of a cutting-edge and yet sophisticated House sound out of Berlin.
For this very “Operator” EP we see Solide key players D.Y.A and Kalyma team up for the joint production of the eponymous titled original tune. A downright uplifting affair (did anybody say summer anthem?!), textured by a rousing beat that’s enriched by subtle tribal-like percussive elements, laying the foundation for its main theme, a kalimba part with heavy 80 ́s -leanings. Add snare patterns, a chime and pad-kissed break and there you have it – your feelgood tune of the season.
As for remix duties, it’s Panthera Krause, one of the most versatile producers out of the ever buzzing Leipzig-scene, who is adding his very own perception to the original material. His take on “Operator” builds on key-shifting pad-sounds in the background and a beat that emphasizes straightness, adding synthbasslines and a method of groove that might translate the luminous nature of the original into a rather obscured club scenario.
Rounding things off it’s N Kramer’s beatless meditation over “Operator”. A very gentle analysis of sound, an inwardly journey and well executed attempt to distill the inner spirit of the source material.
