2020 has been quite the year, not only for obvious reasons but also in our release schedule. After welcoming the wondrous Cosmo & Kramer to the label with their nu-disco delights on ‘Bingo Fun’ EP, we now see SOLIDE family member, Kalyma, returning with a solo release in the form of ‘Clipper’.

It’s been a moment since Kalyma appeared on the label alone, having teamed up with D.Y.A. back in January for another edition of their ‘Operator’ series. In the control seat on ‘Clipper’, Kalyma follows up last year’s ‘Tanger Night Drive’ EP, bringing forward his innate knack for well-crafted rhythms.

On ‘Clipper’, punchy kicks lay the foundation alongside ticking cowbells and funky synths. Kalyma injects a certain glow with warm chords, all wrapped up in a distinctly juicy melody. The perfect soundtrack for sundown sets. On the B-side, Møzaika’s strips down the arrangement. Minusing the kick and distorting the synth chords to eerie effect, the remix is a chilling ambient take on Kalyma’s original.
